The Viral “Health” Recipe That We Tried

You might have seen it, heard it, thought you saw/heard wrong and moved on.  But it’s here, and people are going ga-ga over it: dark chocolate covered roasted garlic.  Take a moment to let it sink in.  Garlic: spicy, pungent.  Roasted: soft, sweet.  Dark Chocolate: heaven.  But combined?  We were not so sure. But it was blogged about, made a few debuts in well-established gourmet food magazines, healthy blogs, foodie magazines– was swooned over…and over, and over.

So we tried it, and here is what we found:The roasted garlic was delicious.  We peeled the garlic, tossed it lightly in olive oil and a brushed it with a bit of honey.  Once roasted, we carefully dipped it in some of the best quality chocolate around– and then we waited.  And we tasted.  So, did we go ga-ga??  Sorry, Epicurious and bloggers– but… not really.  It wasn’t terrible, but given the option we would eat our roasted garlic on a piece of crusty baguette and our chocolate plain (or on a piece of crunchy baguette for that matter!).  It’s a good time to remember what when it comes to the internet, some recipes are true gems…and well, others are not.
